Washington Wizards head coach Scott Brooks has nothing but good things to say about All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal.

Beal had the best statistical season of his career in 2018-19, averaging 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists. The sharpshooter also shot 47.5 percent from the field, 35.1 percent beyond the arc and 80.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Brooks says Beal is a hard worker and loves to compete.

“He's a big winner. And that guy, he competes, and he wants to do things properly,” Brooks told Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated. “He puts in his time before and after practice, gives you great effort practice. And if you just keep piling up those type of work habits, you're gonna have success. There's no secret to it. I mean, some of these players I've been on teams with they think it's easy. They think you just take this vitamin at night and you're gonna be a good player. You've got to work every day and you can't have off days. And Brad is like that. He's taken his game to the next level.

“Three years ago, when I took the job, I knew he could shoot. But he can score in every area of the floor, attack the basket, free throws, three points. And now I think the last year and a half he was able to facilitate and make his teammates better this year. I think there's no limit. I think he can average eight or nine assists a game. I think those are numbers that are attainable, and I think he's ready for that challenge.”

The Wizards have offered Beal a three-year extension worth around $111 million. Beal has until October to sign it or pass on the extension.

Under Beal's current contract, the Wizards owe the two-time All-Star $27.1 million next season and $28.8 million in 2020-21. All-Star point guard John Wall is widely expected to miss the entire 2019-20 campaign recovering from his Achilles tear, so Beal will once again be the No. 1 option for Washington.
