After winning their third consecutive game without John Wall, Marcin Gortat tweeted about the Washington Wizards' ‘great team victory' over the Toronto Raptors. A couple days later in an interview with ESPN, Wall took Gortat's tweet as a shot and was shocked by the comment.

As the Wizards are currently 6-2 during this stretch without Wall, the two players reportedly met privately to discuss their comments according to Chris Haynes of ESPN:

Washington Wizards teammates John Wall and Marcin Gortat met privately last week to confront each other about where they stood with one another, league sources tell ESPN.

Despite the meeting, it will require more work to fully repair the relationship according to Haynes:

The meeting, which didn't last long, facilitated the airing of grievances, but sources say there is still more work to be done to fully repair that relationship.

Before Wall's knee surgery, the Wizards were underachieving with a 26-22 record in the Eastern Conference. When taking into account the team not meeting expectations and Wall out approximately 6-8 weeks for the 2017-18 NBA season, Gortat's tweet can easily be misinterpreted.

Like most teams, the Wizards have had to find a way to still win without their five-time All-Star. As they have found success with more ball movement, there is no question Washington is better when Wall is on the court and ultimately gives them the best chance to compete in the East.

After their first meeting, it will be interesting to see what happens next between Wall and Gortat.
