The Washington Wizards reportedly have no interest in acquiring veteran small forward Carmelo Anthony, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Carmelo Anthony is still on the Houston Rockets' roster, but he has been away from the team for a while now, as Houston is looking to find a trade partner for Melo. If the Rockets can't find a suitor for Anthony, they will likely waive him.

The Wizards maintain they have no plans to pursue Anthony despite being mentioned last week as a potential destination for the former All-Star who grew up largely in Baltimore, Md.

Anthony has been searching for a landing spot for nearly six weeks to facilitate his official departure from the Houston Rockets, who announced on Nov. 15 that they were parting ways with him after just 10 games together.

Carmelo Anthony played in 10 games with the Rockets before Houston decided the experiment wasn't going to work for the long-term. The 10-time All-Star averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 40.5 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line with Houston.

The Wizards just acquired Trevor Ariza from the Phoenix Suns and still have Otto Porter Jr. on the roster, so they really don't need the services of Carmelo Anthony.
