The WNBA is continuing its expansion with the latest addition being the Bay Area-based Golden State Valkyries. The Valkyries will play at the Chase Center in San Francisco, the same venue as the Golden State Warriors. The new Bay Area team revealed its franchise color scheme, and UConn women's basketball star Paige Bueckers was highly impressed.
The Valkyries posted a picture displaying a purple and black colorway, prompting a flattering Bueckers response:
“Prettiest colorway ever,” Bueckers posted on X.
Of course, Bueckers' comments on the new franchise's color scheme had fans endlessly buzzing on social media. Many fans are creating hyped scenarios where Bueckers plays for the Valkyries. Here are a few notable reactions:

Could Paige Bueckers become one of the Valkyries' “Splash Sisters”? Fans went as far as proposing an entertaining scenario where Bueckers and Caitlin Clark play on Golden State together:

There is no doubt Bueckers is a fan of the WNBA's Bay Area expansion team. If she has another standout year in college, her and her fans' dreams of playing for the franchise could come true.
Bueckers was one of the most electric two-way talents in college basketball during the 2023-24 season. She averaged 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. She helped lead the UConn women's basketball team to a 33-6 overall record and a Final Four showing.
The Huskies nearly advanced to the national championship to take on the undefeated South Carolina Gamecocks, but they were bested 71-69 in the semifinal by Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Nevertheless, Bueckers had an impressive showing, and her team has a bright outlook for the 2024-25 season.
Paige Bueckers will look to make another stellar college run amid WNBA buzz
Bueckers is solidifying her name as one of the best players in UConn women's basketball history. Under head coach Geno Auriemma, Bueckers and her squad have the chance to be the top team in the Big East and the country in 2024-25.
Auriemma sang Bueckers' praises after her stellar performance helped the Huskies beat the Syracuse Orange 72-64 in the second round of 2024 March Madness.
“We have the best player in America. Just saying that because the numbers, in this world of analytics, say she is. And the stat sheet says that she is. And everybody that watched knows it,” Auriemma claimed after the game.
Bueckers displayed a plethora of offensive moves, finishing with 32 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds. Some may argue with Auriemma's claim, but Bueckers is in a class of her own. The coveted head coach glowed when speaking about the star guard's love for the game and selflessness.
“Paige is a fun-loving kid who does play basketball for the joy of it. Not for the adulation that comes with it. She's playing for her teammates and she plays for the love of the game…I have so much respect for her and what she's doing. I can't say enough good things about her,” Auriemma added.
Auriemma's sentiment likely has not changed as his team undergoes offseason training for 2024-25. If Bueckers continues to work hard, her college basketball and WNBA aspirations will come true.
