Expectations are always high for the Dallas Cowboys, and 2022 is no different. “America's Team” won the NFC East in 2021, but were promptly knocked out of the postseason in the wild card round. Anything less than another division title and a playoff victory would be a disappointment for Dallas in 2022. After a free agency period largely spent maintaining their roster, Dallas should be looking to make a couple of key additions to round out their team as the NFL Draft approaches. There are plenty of options, but here are the two best moves the Cowboys could make to complete their roster.

Key moves the Cowboys need to make to complete their 2022 roster

Sign OL Rashod Hill

This isn't an exciting move, but signings like this one are hallmarks of successful teams. Rashod Hill has built up a solid career as a swing tackle during six years with the Minnesota Vikings. He capably filled in at left and right tackle while handling stints at both guard spots. That's exactly the type of player the Cowboys should be looking for. Starting left guard Connor Williams signed with the Miami Dolphins in free agency, leaving Dallas shorthanded on the offensive line. The Cowboys don't have any depth left on the line, something that has doomed countless teams in the past. Hill would be able to provide a backup at tackle and guard, essentially providing a one-man fix to the problem for Dallas. His veteran experience would also provide camp competition for the starting left guard position.

Another appealing part about Hill is his price tag. He's never been one of the NFL's better offensive linemen, which means that he won't demand huge money. Dallas should be able to sign him to a three-year, $9 million dollar deal or something similar. If Hill wants more than that, there are a ton of other options who could fill that role. Ethan Pocic and Trai Turner are both good backup guard options, while former Buffalo Bills lineman Darryl Williams has experience at both guard and tackle.

Bring in Jadeveon Clowney

If the Cowboys really believe that they are Super Bowl contenders, they need to make moves to improve at defensive end. The Cowboys are currently set to start Dante Fowler Jr. at one edge position. Jadeveon Clowney would provide Dallas with a legitimate starter at a key position. The former Cleveland Browns Pro Bowler is coming off of one of the better seasons in his career. He notched nine sacks and 37 tackles while playing next to Myles Garrett. Playing on the Cowboys' defensive line would provide Clowney with another advantageous situation, as most of the attention would be directed towards star defender DeMarcus Lawrence. Signing Clowney would also allow Fowler Jr. to act as a situational edge rusher, a role he could actually succeed in. He is also one of the best free agents still available.

If Clowney doesn't end up working out, there are a couple of other solid options. Former Buffalo Bills lineman Mario Addison could provide some good pass rush in a reserve role. Former NFC East rival Ryan Kerrigan is also a free agent. However, none of those players provide the run defense and upside of Clowney. If the Cowboys can get a discount on him, Clowney would be a slam-dunk signing for Jerry Jones and crew.
