2K might end up being the ones with the FIFA license, as deals between FIFA and EA continue to slack.

It hasn't been confirmed yet, but investors pressed 2K executive Strauss Zelnick during a shareholder's meeting if he's eyeing the FIFA license in any way. However, the 2K Boss didn't want to give a straight answer. He instead diverted attention to their recent acquisition, mobile developer Nordeus, developers of mobile soccer game Top Eleven.

Investors weren't quite satisfied with this response, however. The investors then asked Zelnick for a straight yes or no, but Zelnick still wouldn't relent. He instead shared that he at least gave some thought about it. He shared that if ever 2K swoops in to make a deal with FIFA, it would be a big step for 2K. Even though 2K has been big on NBA 2K, they've never exactly gone the soccer route before.

It bears remembering though that FIFA has not yet completely revoked their license from Electronic Arts yet, and deals aren't completely off the table. While 2K swooping in to take yet another sport from EA is an exciting prospect for 2K fans, there is still very little assurance that 2K will definitely take over the FIFA franchise.
