John Wall is officially a member of the Houston Rockets after Clutch City acquired him from the Washington Wizards for Russell Westbrook. It was a surprising blockbuster trade, one that sent shockwaves throughout the NBA since both are superstar guards with almost identical playing styles.

Wall, a former No. 1 overall pick, has a lot to prove with the Rockets since he's coming off a string of injuries. The five-time All-Star missed all of last season recovering from an Achilles tear. In the 2018-19 season, he played in 32 games for the Wizards before undergoing heel surgery. Despite dealing with bone spurs, Wall averaged 20.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from beyond the arc and 69.7 percent from the free-throw line in 2018-19.

The 30-year-old Wall has been on record saying that he's excited to prove his doubters wrong since he was putting up All-Star-caliber numbers while playing through injuries. One can only imagine how good Wall is going to be with the Rockets now that he's reportedly healthy.

With that being said, here are three bold predictions for Wall in his first season with the Rockets.

1. John Wall plays in 58 games

The upcoming NBA season, which starts on December 22, will feature only 72 games. We have Wall playing in 58 of those. It seems impossible to ask the explosive guard to play more than that since he's coming off two major surgeries and hasn't played in a game since December 26, 2018 when the Wizards faced the Detroit Pistons. Wall put up 21 points and eight assists in a losing effort before shutting down his season and undergoing heel surgery.

Assuming James Harden doesn't get traded by the Rockets, for the first time in his basketball life, Wall is going to be playing with a player who is better than him. At Kentucky and with the Wizards, Wall was always the guy who had to initiate the offense and score late in the shot clock. Bradley Beal is one of the best scorers in the league, but his game went to another level after Wall went out of the lineup.

Since Harden will be the main option on offense with the Rockets, Wall's usage rate is expected to be at a career-low number and that is going to be good for his body. We have the Raleigh, North Carolina native playing in zero back-to-back games and producing 58 starts this upcoming season.

2. John Wall averages 18.3 points and 6.2 assists

During his two seasons with the Rockets as Harden's teammate, Chris Paul averaged 17.1 points and 8.0 assists per game. Westbrook, meanwhile, put up 27.2 points and 7.0 dimes a night last season. Even though Harden is a ball-dominant player, Paul and Westbrook were still able to put up good numbers alongside him.

With that being said, we have Wall averaging 18.3 points and 6.2 assists per game in his maiden campaign with the Rockets. Those are pretty good numbers, especially for a player who is coming off a spate of injuries.

While Wall is used to averaging over 20.0 points and 9.0 assists per outing, those days are likely over with the Rockets since their offense heavily revolves around Harden. One of the reasons Westbrook requested a trade after just one year with the Rockets is he wants to have the ball in his hands more.

While there are certainly going to be nights where Wall gets frustrated with his lack of touches, ultimately, it's going to be good for his legs in the long run.

3. John Wall makes more than 115 three-pointers

During the 2015-16 season with the Wizards, Wall made 115 three-pointers, the most in his career. He attempted 328 shots from long distance that season, which was also a career-high.

During a recent podcast with former NBA star Gilbert Arenas, Wall talked about how he's going to shoot the 3-ball more since teams continue to go under screens and dare him to shoot. Arenas actually challenged Wall in their workouts to stop driving the ball to the hole when he needed a bucket. Agent Zero wants Wall to rely less on his athleticism and develop a sound jumper so that when teams do leave him open from deep (like what happened to Westbrook last season), Wall will make them pay and hit the shot.

So, we believe Wall will make more than 115 three-pointers with the Rockets and break his personal best. Teams will continue to double-team and trap Harden at every turn and Wall has to be there for The Beard and make open shots for the Rockets to be successful during the 2020-21 season.
