The Chicago Bears were looking for a veteran quarterback this offseason and many thought they would end up trading for Cincinnati Bengals' longtime starter Andy Dalton. When everything was said and done, however, the Bears decided to go in a different direction. They went out and acquired veteran quarterback Nick Foles from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Foles may not be a household name, but he did lead the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl win a couple years back when Carson Wentz went down with an injury. Chicago is acquiring Foles, who has a big contract, to come in and compete with Mitchell Trubisky. Most believe that Foles will end up taking over the starting job with the Bears before the end of the 2020 season.

Last season with the Jaguars, Foles was only able to play in four games. He went down with an injury early in the season, which allowed rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew to take over. Even when Foles came back, it was obvious that the Jaguars wanted Minshew to be their starter.

Despite his lack of production in his first season on a big deal with Jacksonville, there are plenty of reasons to believe that Foles will bounce back just fine. Quite simply, he is a veteran who has a track record of being a very solid all-around quarterback.

All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at three expectations for Foles with the Bears in 2020.

3. He Starts The Season Backing Up Trubisky

Let's be realistic about this situation. The Bears are not going to give up on Trubisky without giving him a shot to start the 2020 season. They are going to let Trubisky prove to them why they should let him start or replace him.

Foles was brought in to be a fallback option of their young quarterback can't get things back on track. Matt Nagy has been very vocal about his support for Trubisky and that will give him the starting job to open up the 2020 season. However, Foles is going to compete with the young quarterback in training camp and throughout the preseason.

Chicago would be wise to give Trubisky a few games to show improvement. If he isn't able to prove that he should continue starting, then the team would have to make the decision to bench him.

2. Nick Foles Takes Over The Starting Job By Week 5

While the Bears are going to give Trubisky every chance they can, he simply isn't going to work out. Foles was acquired because the Bears doubt their current quarterback situation. It's a rough reality, but reality is exactly what it is at this point in time.

By Week 5, Chicago will have seen enough from Trubisky. They will turn to Foles to see what the veteran can give them. Foles will take the starting job and he won't look back.

There is a chance that Foles could take over even earlier. Trubisky isn't going to look good and he doesn't have the tools necessary to be a franchise quarterback. Foles may not be the best long-term option either, but he gives the Bears the best chance to win now.

1. Chicago Makes The Playoffs With Foles At QB

Finally, let's go with a bit of a bold prediction for the veteran quarterback. He has a lot to prove after a rough 2019 season and he will be ready to go when called upon. Foles is going to lead the Bears to the postseason.

Chicago has an elite defense and some offensive weapons around their quarterback. Foles is more capable of helping the Bears put up solid offensive numbers than Trubisky.

It may not be a pretty season, but the Bears are going to make the playoffs under the leadership of Foles.
