In one of the saddest stories in world football, Eden Hazard has had a mighty fall. Once regarded as potentially the best player in the world, Hazard has scored just six goals in three seasons with Real Madrid. His big-money move from Chelsea to Real Madrid has been plagued by injuries, leading to a loss of confidence. With his club planning a great transfer window, with Kylian Mbappe all but signed and still in the fight for Erling Haaland, Hazard will likely leave the club. In that case, we look at three landing spots for Eden Hazard to revive his career if sold by Real Madrid.

Best landing spots for Eden Hazard

Chelsea

Bringing Eden Hazard back to Chelsea just feels right. Even though he was not the product of the Chelsea football school, he still made history there, becoming one of the best wingers in the history of the English Premier League. Even though it was not well-received in Madrid, Hazard was seen enjoying his time with Chelsea players after the English club eliminated Real Madrid in the semifinal of the Champions League last year. He seems to have good relations with his former club, so it would not be strange to see Hazard back at Stamford Bridge come next summer.

Of course, this is all hanging on two things: that Hazard actually leaves Madrid, and that Chelsea sorts out their internal issues. With the status of their ownership being uncertain to say the least due to sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich, there are a ton of questions about the future of the club.

Granted they sort this out, Chelsea could definitely pull the trigger for Eden Hazard. He likely would not be the starter, as Kai Havertz and Mason Mount look great together, but he would be an excellent super-sub, especially if he found a fraction of his form.

Newcastle

With a club that definitely has the capabilities to fund the move, Eden Hazard could really revive his career. Newcastle was recently bought by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund in October and already splashed over $100 million in the January transfer window. With Hazard likely available for a relatively small amount, the Saudi investors could have a huge player to kickstart their fight to get Newcastle to the top of English football. He would also likely not start, but anything can happen during one season.

If he could recall his form from Chelsea, or at least a part of it, his experience winning in the Premier League (he won two times during his Chelsea stint) would likely help Newcastle reach at least top-six status in their first full season under new owners.

Additionally, Newcastle will likely have trouble attracting the top of the footballing talent across the world, at least in their first summer transfer window under new ownership. It takes some time for any club that gets a lot of money to make a serious splash in terms of transfers. They will always be linked with all available players, but bringing in someone is going to prove difficult, as there are better clubs that have a ton of money as well.

So, for their first window, bringing in Eden Hazard would be great. In his beloved Premier League, Hazard would have a perfect chance to lift up his spirits and get back to his old self.

AC Milan

Coming out of England, one surprise club that could make a move for the Belgian is Italian side AC Milan. After some time trying to find themselves, Milan seems to be fully back. The 18-time Serie A winners are looking like the favorite to win their 19th title this year and dethrone Inter Milan, their crosstown rival.

However, their disappointing Champions League outing, where they finished fourth in their group, showed that they still need improvements, even if they win their domestic league. Eden Hazard might be the right way to go.

Right now, Milan sets up with a 4-2-3-1 formation, playing with both a left forward and an inside forward. Those two positions are mostly occupied by Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao, but they both lack a ton of experience. Additionally, Brahim will probably be back in Madrid next season, as he impressed in Milan this year, so there will be a gap in the middle.

Hazard could be the experienced forward who can slot behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Olivier Giroud, if both stay in Milan, or even play on the left. Again, he would likely not start right away, but with the pressure off and a new challenge in Serie A, Hazard might regain some of his form and help Milan make a splash in next season's Champions League.
