At the NBA trade deadline, the Milwaukee Bucks did precisely what they needed to do by acquiring a center. It was evident that if the reigning champions wanted to return to the NBA Finals, they'd have to find out who is going to play the center position while Brook Lopez is out. The Bucks have stated that Lopez will return at some point in the future, and while there is no precise timetable as to when he will return, it is assumed that he will return before the playoffs.

If Lopez can return as effectively as he was before his injury, the Bucks will be a team that no one wants to face, not like they ever were. They can beat any team in any manner they want, but Lopez allows them to accomplish things on the defensive end of the floor that they can't do without him, meaning he is a huge reason for their success.

Serge Ibaka will undoubtedly be a significant asset to this Bucks squad because he will enable them to execute defensive systems similar to what they were able to accomplish when Lopez is on the court.

Unfortunately, in order to get Serge Ibaka, they had to trade Donte DiVincenzo, and Pat Connaughton was injured on the same day that DiVincenzo was traded. This is bad news for Milwaukee since Connaughton is not just a guard who can provide depth, but he was also one of their top 3-point shooters and perhaps their best bench player at the moment.

Milwaukee will have to find a way to gain some depth at the guard position now that Connaughton is hurt. Goran Dragic is expected to be a target for the Milwaukee Bucks during the buyout market, according to reports.

Let's look at three reasons why Goran Dragic may be a good fit for this team.

While Dragic may not be the name that any Bucks fan wants to hear, there is no doubt that he can assist this team. Yes, he did some questionable things when playing for the Miami Heat, but this is a business, and if he can come to Milwaukee and simply play basketball and be a good teammate, it's a move that will benefit this squad.

3. Outside shooting

There's no doubting that the Milwaukee Bucks are one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the NBA. They have players on their squad who can shoot the 3-point shot at about 40%, and it's a reason they've been so successful in recent years. When you're playing with Giannis Antetokounmpo, you're going to get a lot of open looks. Goran Dragic has been a fantastic 3-point shooter throughout his career, and he would complement Antetokounmpo and the rest of the Bucks well.

Milwaukee will be searching for a guy who can come off the bench and hit that three-point shot now that Pat Connaughton is out for four weeks. While he may not be as good as Pat, he may still make a significant impact to this squad.

2. Guard depth is needed

The Milwaukee Bucks need guard depth for a variety of reasons, the most obvious of which being that they are short at the position. The most serious issue here is that Milwaukee can't risk getting someone hurt. Milwaukee has to go out and grab a couple guards because they don't want to risk injury to players like Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday. If any of those players is injured, the Bucks are unlikely to win an NBA championship. Because of Giannis Antetokounmpo's talent, they still have a chance to win a championship, but it will be much more difficult if they do not have Holiday or Middleton on the floor.

They made it apparent last season that they don't care about seeding and want to stay healthy. They could've gotten a higher seed and avoided having to face the Miami Heat in the first round, but instead went out and took care of business in the final few games of the season, and they're good with putting themselves in a bad spot. They've also had players sit out games due to minor ailments, something they wouldn't have done in previous years. Milwaukee is focused on one thing, and that's staying healthy for the playoffs.

1. Takes up the character of the villain

There's no disputing that hearing about Goran Dragic makes Milwaukee Bucks fans want to shout and smack him in the face. He's been known to make some shady moves against this squad in the past, so having him on the roster is a stretch for many fans. It's reasonable, given that he's done certain things in the past that supporters may find difficult to forgive, but they also have to recognize that, given their present roster and the need to find a player who can improve the team, it may be necessary.

If he can come in and play the villain character while still apologizing to the guys on the roster who he wronged, these men are pros and will look right past it. The Milwaukee Bucks feature a group of players that are consummate professionals who simply want to play basketball. While being the villain for this fan base isn't always the greatest thing, it may be beneficial for this dynamic Bucks squad.
