The San Francisco 49ers announced that starting running back Elijah Mitchell suffered a fractured finger in Monday night's win vs the Los Angeles Rams. That potentially opens the door for fantasy relevance to Jeff Wilson Jr.

The 49ers rookie running back has busted onto the scene, leading the team in rushing with 560 yards. He wasn't even supposed to be the rookie that mattered, as San Francisco drafted Trey Sermon in the 3rd round and Mitchell in the 6th.

Yet, it's been the latter who has been the lead back for the 49ers. Meanwhile, the former has struggled to get on the field, whether it's been injuries or ineffectiveness.

Nevertheless, the news on Mitchell opens the fantasy door. The 49ers got back to what they do best offensively Monday, mowing down opponents on the ground.

Jeff Wilson Jr. looks like a potential premier add in fantasy leagues everywhere. Of course, that is dependent on Mitchell's status. But if Mitchell is to miss any time, and particularly this weekend vs the lowly Jaguars defense, Jeff Wilson Jr. could be in line for a very big game.

Wilson Jr. has shown in the past that he can succeed in this offense. Last season, in the four games he received at least 16 carries, Wilson Jr. ran for 431 yards and scored five touchdowns.

He struggled to get much going on the ground late against the Rams Monday, gaining only 28 yards on 10 carries. With JaMychal Hasty still dealing with injuries, and Trey Sermon having healthy scratches week after week, Jeff Wilson Jr. could be a week-winner for fantasy managers in Week 11.
