Fresh off of watching their archrivals, the Young Bucks, lose their AEW Tag Team Championships without either Jackson eating a pin – making their FTYB hashtag totally invalid – FTR have officially landed another choice match in their wrestling careers, taking on the trio of Aussie Open and TJP alongside NJPW standout Alex Zayne at NJPW's Music City Mayhem.

Wow, Saucy FTR? That's going to be must-watch television, folks.

Since picking up the IWGP Tag Team Championships, FTR have been adamant about defending their belts in the promotion, both stateside and even in Japan if the opportunity presents itself. They want to take on the best teams the world has to offer and want nothing more than to be considered “fighting champions.” And yet, to this point, the only match the duo have wrestled since their big-time, legacy-clinching Forbidden Door bout has been a trios contest alongside Danhausen versus Max Caster and The Gunn Club, in a match that was far more relevant to their opponents' storylines than their own. Fortunately, that's about to change, as this match with Zayne should serve as a fantastic appetizer for what FTR could look like wrestling for the promotion.

Strong style matches versus Suzuki Gun? Sure. A proper tag match with Aussie Open? That sounds good too. Goodness, get Cash and Dax in a ring with G.O.D., the Gorillas of Destiny, and see if Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa can keep up with the 7-Star babyfaces over the course of a 20-minute match. As “The Year of FTR” inches on, why not set the sights high and expect for them to get met?
