It feels like it's been an entire video game era since the last release of Age of Empires III, and so it's just timely that we're finally getting closer to the Age of Empires 4 release date. Thankfully, there's not much longer to wait, and we'll finally get to experience medieval warfare again, on a grander scale than ever this time.

The era of real-time strategy games is long gone, but some games just withstand the passage of time. Age of Empires is one of them, with the release of Age of Empires IV possibly bringing RTS games back to the forefront of video gaming. In fact, this may lead to a renaissance of RTS. Who knows?
Age of Empires IV delivers what Age of Empires does best: large-scale RTS gaming that spans different eras in-game. AoE 4 will feature four campaigns and eight civilizations at launch. There has been no news yet on possible DLC content, but that would most likely introduce more campaigns and more playable civilizations. Make history your own with Age of Empires IV, and deliver your kingdom to greatness as you vanquish your foes in open combat.
