Golden State Warriors superstar small forward Kevin Durant can become an unrestricted free agent after this season ends if he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Dubs, and one NBA agent says executives around the league believe KD will sign with the New York Knicks.

According to Frank Isola of The Athletic, NBA executives who attended last week’s G-League Showcase in Las Vegas are of the belief that the Knicks are still very much in play to land Kevin Durant during the summer of 2019.

The Warriors superstar is and should be the Knicks’ number one free agent target. And for what it’s worth, according to several NBA executives who attended last week’s G-League Showcase in Las Vegas, the general consensus is the Knicks are still very much in play to land Durant.

“Everyone says Knicks,” said one prominent player agent.

The Knicks will have cap space next year to sign a max contract player. The organization is in desperate need to acquire a superstar. New York hasn't been to the playoffs since 2013 and has been a laughing stock since for a number of years.

The way ex-Knicks president Phil Jackson treated Carmelo Anthony was supposed to be a turnoff for future free agents, but the Knicks are under new management now, led by head coach David Fizdale, who is very popular with NBA players.

Kevin Durant and the Warriors are likely going to win their third-straight NBA title this season. You would think that Durant would want to leave Golden State and embark on a new challenge since he's had it pretty easy since he signed with the Warriors. Only time will tell if The Big Apple and its fans will get their wish and land Durant in 2019.
