Baltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins has shown enough over the past weeks to warrant a regular spot in the team’s backfield. According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, Ravens offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg has stated that even with the nearing return of Danny Woodhead and Terrance West from injuries, Collins will continue to enjoy being the team’s lead back.

Collins has capitalized on the Ravens’ injury-riddled backfield situation, as the former Arkansas Razorback star running back is leading the team with 521 rushing yards. Collins has shared the load in the backfield of late with Javorius Allen, with the latter used more often in passing situations. But, with Woodhead about to return, Allen’s role as a pass-catching back is expected to get significantly diminished.

West will likely eat up some of the snaps from Collins, but the Ravens will stick with the second-year running back after showing he’s capable of leading the team’s ground attack. Collins has led the team in rushing yards in each of Baltimore’s past four games, including their 40-0 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 8 when Collins rushed for a career-high 113 yards on 18 carries.

Collins and the Ravens will look to improve to 5-5 in Week 11 against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau  Field.
