Aljamain Sterling is in a tricky spot after winning the UFC bantamweight title back in March. He became the champion after Petr Yan hit him with an illegal knee which led to the fight being stopped.
The bantamweight division became a mess with many contenders ready to fight for the belt. Even former champion TJ Dillashaw returned to the cage back in July.
TJ Dillashaw was the former champion when he was suspended by USADA two years ago. He also came back and beat Corey Sandhagen to put his name at the top of the division again.
Aljamain Sterling appeared on The MMA Hour and talked about the Petr Yan fight that happened at UFC 267 as well as when he plans on returning to the cage. The subject of TJ Dillashaw came up.
Ariel Helwani asked Aljamain Sterling about TJ Dillashaw getting the next title shot and Sterling made his feelings on the matter clear.
“Fuck TJ [Dillashaw]. Fuck TJ,” Sterling said. “Let TJ wait. That bitch ass motherfucker can wait.”
The reason for Aljamain Sterling's harsh words came from the fact that bantamweight currently has two titles with Petr Yan holding the interim title after winning it at UFC 267.
The New Yorker believes the two people holding belts should fight and then whoever is next can fight. It's a very tricky situation but the next title fight does seem to be an easy one to book.
Aljamain Sterling is hoping to return in either January or February to unify the belts.
