Finally, Apex Legends, the free-to-play battle royale/hero shooter has received the next-gen treatment as EA Games and Respawn Entertainment has released a new update titled “The Warriors Collection Event” With this new version of the game is designed for PS5 and XSX, players who update from the last-gen versions will gain access to a ton of new visual and audio features, including:

  • 4K Output
  • Full 60HFz Framerates
  • High Definition Rendering
  • Higher Resolution Shadow maps
  • Greater LOD View Distances

Along with visual improvements to the game, new gameplay content will be available including the return of the 9v9 Control Point game mode, A new arena map called Drop-off, several new cosmetic event items, a reward tracker, and a chance to unlock Crypto's Heirloom item, the Biwon Blade.

 

For those that want to update their PS4 version to the PS5 version, users will have to follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Game Hub for Apex Legends on the PS5 dashboard.
  2. Press the “Options” button next to “Play Game” (represented by “…” inside the Game Hub).
  3. Press “Select Version” and choose the PS5 version to download the updated next-gen version.
  4. Once the download is complete, navigate to the Game Library to delete the PS4 version.

Xbox Series X|S, on the other hand, won't have to lift a finger, as the system uses a smart delivery system, ensuring that users will always have access to the best possible version of the game pre-downloaded and ready to go, so no extra steps will be needed.

In the future, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will gain more specialized updates for Apex Legends, including visual, audio improvements and 120hz framerate unlock. PS5 versions specifically will also gain the use of adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.

Apex Legends is now available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Origin and Steam.
