The Auburn Tigers entered SEC Tournament play ranked as the number one seed and one of the better teams in the Conference following their 27-5 regular season record. Led by talented forward Jabari Smith, the Tigers were looked at as one of the favorites to win the tourney. However, the team was quickly bounced from the SEC Tournament by Texas A&M, who shockingly built up a huge lead before the Tigers made things interesting. However, it was too little too late by Bruce Pearl's team. Pearl spoke to reporters following the upset loss, making a shocking admission in the aftermath of the quick SEC Tournament exit, as reported by beat writer Tom Green.

This is pretty shocking for Bruce Pearl to say, especially right after Auburn was bested by Texas A&M. The Tigers, who have had as many as two players, including top prospect Jabari Smith, taken in the top-20 of mock NBA Drafts, are certainly the more talented team.

However, to insist that Auburn is “better” than the Aggies, who just bounced them out of the SEC Tournament, is not the smartest thing to say. Pearl did make sure to heap praise on Texas A&M though, noting that the Aggies are very deserving of a spot in the upcoming NCAA tourney.

As for Auburn's NCAA Tournament prospects? Their loss to the Aggies may have just cost them a one-seed.
