With March Madness officially wrapping up on Monday night as the Kansas Jayhawks took home the national title, the focus now shifts towards the 2022 NBA Draft on June 23rd. One of the potential top picks, Auburn standout Jabari Smith, has officially announced he is taking his talents to the next level.

Smith posted this on Instagram early Tuesday morning:

Jabari Smith spent just one season with the Tigers, who were bounced by Miami in the Round of 32. The forward was one the sole reasons Auburn managed to win the SEC though, helping them set a regular-season record of 27 wins and 15 wins in conference play.

Smith averaged 16.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and two assists per game in 2021-22 while shooting an impressive 42% from long range. He's also just the second consensus All-American in program history.

Here is part of Jabari Smith's statement from his IG post:

“Bruce Pearl and this amazing coaching staff has been recruiting me since I was in 10th grade and have shown me nothing but love since the first day we came in contact. I want to thank BP for always being honest with me and pushing me to be the best, on and off the court. I came into this season wanting to make history and give this school the recognition it deserves in basketball, and Auburn did that. I also want to give a special thanks to the best coaching staff and best support staff in the country. You all have made this year one I will never forget. Thank you all for being there for me and treating me like family since the first day I stepped foot on campus.

Jabari Smith is looking to become just the second top-five selection in the last three years after Isaac Okoro went No. 5 to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2018.
