Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati reveals that wearing the Number 10 jersey of Lionel Messi does not phase him whatsoever.

After earlier speculation of who would carry on the famous N0. 10 in Barcelona, the honor was given to the 18-year old Spanish forward who spoke intently about donning Leo Messi's former number.

Via Adriana Garcia of ESPN:

“It's true that the No. 10 jersey has been worn by Leo [Messi] and many players but I'm calm,” Fati, 18, said in Thursday's news conference. “I know what I can bring to this team” He adds, “For me it's not a pressure. No one is going to be like Leo,…no one is going to equal what Leo has done. I'm going to follow my own journey.

Fati also respected the fact that the number could have been worn by anyone — some rumors were speculating that new Barcelona signing Sergio Aguero, was going to honor his fellow Argentine by wearing the No. 10. It was ultimately offered to Ansu by the captains, and he gladly accepted.

“Any player could have worn the No. 10. I'm grateful that the captains offered me the number and luckily, I got it. It's an extra motivation for me.

Joan Laporta also chimed in saying that although the Barca wasn't in a rush to unveil a new No. 10, the club didn't want to drag the issue on any longer as well. Laporta also acknowledged that Ansu would only take the No. 10 if the captains authorized it.

Fans around Barcelona have been ecstatic with Ansu Fati's performances as of late, and only time will tell if the up-and-coming Barcelona superstar can live up to the famous number.
