As the winter transfer window is set to open in January, Barcelona and Juventus are now eyeing one veteran striker for a possible midseason signing.

For one, the Italian-based outlet CalcioMercato notes that Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette is currently facing an uncertain future with the Gunners. He is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and for the moment, he is not interested in engaging in talks with club officials for a new contract deal.

Juventus has now emerged as a possible suitor for Lacazette, the report adds. Juventus club officials are currently showing an early intrigue in making a move for the veteran French forward over the upcoming winter transfer window.

As it stands, Juventus is not the lone powerhouse club that is interested in making a move for the Premier League striker. CalcioMercato also adds that Barcelona will look for attacking reinforcements in the winter window, and the club views the Gunners striker as one viable solution to this matter.

While Barca did recently sign former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero over the recent summer transfer window, the Catalan side has had vast struggles with its attacking unit, which has included scoring a mere four goals over its last five matches in all competitions.

As mentioned, Lacazette is set to be out of a contract next year. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta noted in April that Lacazette’s future with the club would be addressed in the summer. Not much has changed since then, as the Frenchman is currently playing in the final year of his contract with the club.

Lacazette has scored two goals in EFL Cup play this season but is yet to make a start in the Premier League over the ongoing campaign. He missed Arsenal’s opening two league fixtures due to a positive coronavirus test and has been benched in its last two league contests.
