Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery suffered a knee injury in a Week 4 victory over the Detroit Lions, but now he's back at practice ahead of the Bears' Monday Night Football Showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This doesn't mean Montgomery will definitely play, as this just opens his 21-day window to return from injured reserve.

Still, this is great news for Montgomery and a Bears offense that has really struggled to score points this season, though it's worth noting that Chicago has one of the best rushing offenses in the NFL. Montgomery was off to a strong start to the 2021 campaign with a pair of games going over 100 yards on the ground.

With Montgomery sidelined, rookie Khalil Herbert has done an excellent job. Damien Williams has also had his moments, so the Bears have a nice little running back room when healthy. Rookie quarterback Justin Field is also dangerous with his legs, as evidenced by his big performance against the San Francisco 49ers last weekend.

In addition to Montgomery returning to practice, Bears head coach Matt Nagy is back in the building after missing last weekend's game due to a positive COVID-19 test.

Chicago is 3-5 on the season after three consecutive losses. While Fields looked good against the 49ers, it has been a roller-coaster ride for him in his rookie season. The passing game has been awful, though that's not all on the quarterback.

Nagy has come under fire for the offense's struggles as well, and he really needs the Bears to turn this season. There have been plenty of calls for his job, so he could be in some trouble if Chicago doesn't start winning some games.
