A Chicago Bears legend has been in the news lately in the form of Brian Urlacher. The linebacker made some questionable comments about the current situation going on. In those comments he lauded the shooter at the protests.

Another Bears' legend took to Twitter to give his thoughts. Running back Matt Forte stated that his agent is getting media requests for him to talk about Urlacher. Forte blasted the media though, saying they would “further the division btw humanity”.

So instead, Forte took it upon himself to share his thoughts using no media outlet other than Twitter.

In a long thread under that original tweet, he gave his opinion on the matter. Forte talks about how he is “continuing to pray” for 54 (Urlacher's number) and “those who share his perspective” because “he can ignore my accountability towards him but he’s defenseless against these prayers.”

Forte then talks about how every human – no matter if they are a “criminal, thug, a racist or someone who’s made bad choices etc…” all have things in common. He goes on to state that “as a human being created in the image of God we are all sinful and have the same value and deserve dignity, love and respect for our lives.”

Forte also talks about true understand and how it “doesn’t come from reading a book about it, watching a documentary or an episode of black-ish. It comes from the actual experience of racism and injustice or self honesty in saying you know what I’ll probably never understand but I’m willing to listen and humbly with compassion put my feet in the oppressed shoes and walk through it with them as I try to understand the inequality and mistreatments of black and brown people since the first slaves touched U.S. soil.”

Clearly, Forte has a lot of feelings about everything going on, and about Urlacher's comments. However, it is also clear that he is not too happy about the media trying to use his thoughts and feelings to divide humanity any further.

With that in mind, there is no reason to try and decipher his words other than taking them at face value. He has made his stance known, there is no reason for us to say anything else about the situation.
