The Chicago Bears have gotten off to a promising 2-0 start to the 2020 NFL season. While they are still far from a finished product, quarterback Mitchell Trubisky seems to be relishing in the approach on offense.

The Bears have rushed 60 times for 284 yards while averaging 4.7 yards per carry so far. Trubisky feels their new identity has helped pay dividends for him under center, per Bryan Perez of Bears Wire:

“I think it just creates rhythm for our offense and it’s nice to have an identity,” quarterback Mitch Trubisky said of Chicago’s running game this week. “We know what we can lean on, and that’s our run game and our O-line up front creating holes and establishing the line of scrimmage.”

“It’s nice to lean on that and it’s something we feel comfortable with,” Trubisky said. “So we’re just going to keep getting better and keep going with it.”

Trubisky's comments are indicative of just how much pressure is taken off him once Chicago is able to get the run game going. Given his struggles in head coach Matt Nagy's offense last year, this could serve as a major starting point for this group.

The emergence of running back David Montgomery has helped make this approach come to fruition with his play so far. Meanwhile, the quality depth in the backfield with Cordarrelle Patterson and Tarik Cohen ensures that there are no shortage of options for Trubisky to rely on.

The biggest test for the Bears' rushing game still lies ahead with upcoming matchups against two defenses that rank in the top 10 against the run with the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts.
