New Chicago Bears quarterback coach John DeFilippo wants to see a little swagger, energy, and passion from Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky as they take control of the offense. DeFilippo doesn't care what the others outside the organization say, the two guys need to believe they are the best quarterbacks in all of football.

Per Dan Widerer in the Chicago Tribune:

“It means we have a passion for the game. We have a ton of energy,” DeFilippo said, via ProFootballTalk. “We’re the same people every day. But then we walk around with a little bit of swagger to ourselves in terms of knowing we’re the best quarterback room in the National Football League.”

DeFilippo also made it clear that there is a different from having a little swagger, and being cocky, something he doesn't want Bears potential starting quarterbacks Foles and Trubisky to be.

“And that doesn’t mean we go around and are cocky and arrogant. That just means we have a swagger about ourselves that the only [way we can be] beat is if we beat ourselves.”

DeFilippo can preach swagger as much as he wants, but it's also important that these guys perform on the field. They can have as much swagger as much as they want, but if they aren't moving the ball up and down the field and scoring points, it's not going to matter too much.

Foles was brought in this offseason to give some competition to Trubisky. Does that mean Trubisky is going to step up to the challenge or will he lose the job? If he wants to win the job he better bring some swagger.
