The Chicago Bears are on a five-game losing streak after a debacle of a loss to the Lamar Jackson-less Baltimore Ravens in Week 11, and if the most recent rumor is to believed, that was the final nail in the coffin for head coach Matt Nagy. Mark Konkol of Patch is reporting that the Bears will fire Nagy after their Thanksgiving game against the Detroit Lions on Thursday.

Konkol reports the franchise told Nagy of his fate on Monday, but he's still set to coach the game on Thursday. It seems rather odd to not just pull the plug right now and let somebody else coach against the Lions, but perhaps the short week is impacting the strategy here.

If the Bears do indeed fire Nagy after this game, it will be the first time ever that they fire a coach in-season. The move would make sense, though, given the losing streak and the general ineptness of this coaching staff. Chicago is 3-7 on the season after starting 3-2, with some truly brutal losses during this losing streak.

The Bears' loss to the Ravens was capped off by “Fire Nagy” chants from the Soldier Field faithful. On top of that, fans at the United Center chanted the same thing during the Chicago Bulls' game against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. There were even chants at Nagy's son's high school football game over the weekend. There was also a report Monday saying Nagy has lost the locker room.

It's clear this situation has been untenable, and it appears the Matt Nagy era in Chicago will be coming to an end in a matter of days. The next question is if general manager Ryan Pace will be following him out the door soon.
