With the offseason in full swing, the Buffalo Bills were among the teams looking to make a splash. It appears they may have found their man in Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, the Bills have reportedly pulled off a trade with the Vikings for Diggs:
ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter confirmed that the Bills put together a package of picks that included a first-rounder for Diggs.
Compensation update: Bills are trading a 1st-round pick, a 5th-round pick, a 6th-round pick and a 2021 4th-round pick for Vikings WR Stefon Diggs and a 2020 7th-round pick, source tells ESPN.
Diggs has not been shy about providing cryptic details of his looming departure this offseason. The fallout from Minnesota stems from the tumultuous 2019 NFL season he endured amidst the team's slow start to the year. It appears he has now been offered a fresh start in Buffalo.
Despite all that transpired, he is still coming off a stellar 2019 campaign with 63 receptions for a career-high 1,130 receiving yards and six touchdowns. It is safe to say that Diggs will arrive as the new No. 1 option in the passing game for quarterback Josh Allen. Allen had already established quite a rapport with wide receiver John Brown and he will now have a rather talented tandem to work with in the 2020 NFL season.
Meanwhile, the Vikings ultimately lose their receiver duo alongside Adam Thielen. Fortunately, they now have a bevy of picks to work with in order to shore up more firepower through a rich receiver draft.
