There were only two people picked first before Portland Trail Blazers forward Carmelo Anthony during the legendary 2003 NBA Draft Class.

The top pick, of course, is the league's premier superstar LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, while the man who went second went on to become one of the biggest busts in NBA history. That man is none other than Darko Milicic.

During an Instagram live video with his “Banana Boat Crew” buddy Dwyane Wade, Melo playfully said he doesn't remember who the Serbian center was.

The Blazers forward even joked around and said the call was breaking up as soon as D-Wade brought up the 7-footer.

Kidding aside, Melo for sure knows Milicic who managed to play nine seasons in the league from 2003 to 2012. To this day, that 2003 Draft class is still considered to be one of the most loaded ones in NBA history — producing superstars like James, Anthony, Wade, and Chris Bosh.

James was expected to go number one to his home team of Cleveland, while pundits widely believed that Melo was a lock-in as the second overall pick after a spectacular one-and-done season with the Syracuse Orange.

However, the Detroit Pistons, who had the second overall pick, opted to take a chance on the seven-foot Milicic instead of taking the more proven studs in the class.

Milicic did win a ring with the Pistons in 2004, but his career never really took off. The now 31-year-old center made stops with the Orlando Magic, Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Boston Celtics before retiring in 2012. Anthony, for his part, is a 10-time All_Star before struggling in the past few years and eventually ending up with the Blazers.

Darko tried to make a basketball comeback and even bizarrely transition to MMA after his NBA career. He has career averages of 6.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in 468 games played.

Safe to say that not a lot of people remember Darko nowadays, so we'll be giving Carmelo Anthony a pass on this one.
