It was a memorable evening for Portland Trail Blazers cornerstone superstar Damian Lillard, as he produced an historic performance against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. The 6-foot-2 point guard torched the Nets for a career-high 60-point performance (19-of-33 from the floor, 15-of-15 from the line, along with seven treys, for rebounds, and five assists), and in the process, also set a few more highly impressive records.

There's really not much more to add to the mind-boggling bits of information above, as the records Lillard set or tied on Friday absolutely speak for themselves. Simply put, there's no denying that the four-time All-Star is definitely one of the most gifted offensive players this sport has ever seen.

The terrible part of this historic evening, however, is that the Blazers still failed to secure a win despite Lillard's absolutely heroic performance. Nets newcomer Kyrie Irving also had himself quite a ballgame, accounting for 33 points (on 12-of-27 shooting), four 3-pointers, three rebounds, six assists, a steal, a block, and just one turnover in 39 minutes of play. Most importantly, Irving also drained a game-icing deuce to seal the win for Brooklyn.

Lillard has been tremendous for the Blazers to start the season, and Friday night's performance is testament to this fact. At this point, the guys around him will need to elevate their level of play sooner rather than later, with Portland now on a four-game losing streak. As things stand, the Blazers are currently 3-6 in what is expected to be a ruthless Western Conference.
