The Trail Blazers acquired Hood in a deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers early Sunday afternoon.
The two teams agreed upon a trade that sent Hood to the Trail Blazers, while Nik Stauskas, Wade Baldwin and two second-round picks were shipped to the Cavaliers.
With Thursday's trade deadline approaching, Portland is currently fourth in the Western Conference standings at 32-20, heading into Tuesday's game with a three-game winning streak.
Hood is coming off a rough stint in Cleveland, where he appeared far more disinclined to make an impact on a nightly basis than how his career started in the few years prior for the Utah Jazz.
Yet, the 26-year-old wing could enliven a different mood in Portland going forward. He can provide extra scoring and athleticism in a much brighter situation on the playoff contending Blazers, making him a pertinent option for a team looking to garner as much depth as possible in the ferocious West.
The four-year veteran has averaged 12.2 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on 42.7 percent shooting from the field in the 2018-19 campaign.
