Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers delivered one of the most stunning buzzer-beaters in NBA history against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the two teams’ Western Conference first round playoff series.

Lillard torched Russell Westbrook throughout the series and has cemented himself as one of the top point guards in the league.

The Blazers looked quite potent on both ends of the court, though the OKC Thunder offense was notably limited by a lack of outside shooting – meaning the team’s spacing was compromised before possessions even began.

After Lillard’s indelible shot in Game 5, the Blazers immediately became a trendy choice as the team that will face off against the winner of Rockets/Warriors in the Western Conference Finals, but it also had another interesting byproduct: Making the Blazers a popular choice on the NBA 2K19 video game.

As you can see, a 62 percent increase in choosing the Blazers is not a small number, and it’s understandable.

Lillard and his backcourt mate C.J. McCollum are a fearsome combination and having them play off one another in virtual form would certainly be a scintillating sensation. Though only time will tell if the Blazers will be able to oust the Nuggets in the two teams’ Western Conference semifinal matchup, Lillard’s star is definitely on the rise.
