The Toronto Blue Jays are back in business, thanks in large part to the phenomenal pitching performance from young ace Alek Manoah. The 24-year-old right-hander has been sensational since his call-up to the big leagues last season, and he's off to an outstanding start in the 2022 MLB season. He's notched his place in Blue Jays history after his start on Thursday against the Chicago White Sox. Manoah's WHIP now sits at an impressive 0.998, which is the lowest mark in franchise history through a pitcher's first 30 starts.

Not even the late, great Roy Halladay was able to put up such dominant numbers to start his career in Toronto. Throughout his first 30 starts in MLB, Manoah has recorded a 2.78 ERA, with 184 strikeouts and a 1.00 WHIP across 175.1 innings, numbers which are borderline Cy Young worthy.

This season has been incredible for the 24-year-old. He's recorded a 1.98 ERA and has 57 strikeouts across his first 63.2 innings, emerging as a Cy Young candidate for the World Series contending Blue Jays. Toronto is in good hands with Manoah toeing the rubber going forward, and he'll look to continue his torrid play as the season progresses.

Despite letting up three runs against the White Sox, he was still sharp for 7.2 innings. An All-Star selection seems like a guarantee for the emerging star, especially if he continues to pitch at this level. No one in Toronto would have predicted this type of dominance from Manoah. He wasn't even considered the top pitching prospect in the farm just a few years back, with Nate Pearson being considered the top arm in their minor league system. It's safe to say Manoah has taken the throne from him with his incredible play to start his career.
