Born Ready made the final cut.

ESPN's Marc Stein reported Monday morning that Lance Stephenson made the final cut of the New Orleans Pelicans' roster, just beating out Alonzo Gee for the job.

Stephenson started last season on the Clippers before being traded to the Memphis Grizzlies. He never did much in L.A. but put up some decent numbers in Memphis with averages of 14.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists on 47.4 percent shooting in 26 games.

It doesn't seem that long ago that Stephenson was a very important part of an Indiana Pacers team that made it to the conference finals in consecutive years. Since leaving Indiana, Stephenson's career has gone down hill.

So much so that there was some serious doubt on whether he would even make the Pelicans' roster. Only $100,000 of Stephenson's minimum salary was guaranteed when Stephenson came to Pelicans camp and New Orleans will now have to pay Gee $1.2 million in waiving him.
