The NFL free agency pool just gained a Pro Bowl running back, as the Denver Broncos and Phillip Lindsay have mutually agreed to part ways, per Mike McCartney. Lindsay has been a solid running back for the Broncos throughout his career and finished last season with 502 rushing yards and one touchdown in an 11 game time span.

Lindsay enters free agency as a solid role player for any team. He's finished with over 1,000 rushing yards in two of his three years in the league and could have that opportunity again depending on which team signs him.

As for the mutual agreement to part ways, it seems the two sides believed it was in Lindsay's best interest to hit the open market. After the Broncos had a restricted free agent tender attached to him, it seems as though NFL teams were hesitant in making an offer, as they felt Denver would've matched the offer, per Mike Garafolo.

The future for Phillip Lindsay is unclear, however, it still looks promising. He's a capable runner and has a knack for finding open space with the ball. A couple of teams that make sense as potential suitors for Lindsay are the New York Jets, or the San Francisco 49ers. Both franchises have a spot available on their roster, and Lindsay would likely have a valid role on both teams.

As for the Broncos, they're left with Melvin Gordon on their roster. He's a solid running back, but it's looking possible the front office looks to the draft to find their backup. This is a great situation for both the Broncos and Phillip Lindsay.
