After just one season under his belt, Baker Mayfield has unmistakably become one of the NFL's most polarizing players. What would an investment with Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers mean?

Mayfield, the Cleveland Browns' quarterback, has become very marketable with his authentic personality. The blossoming star is taking his interest into the drink industry.

In an article for Complex by Zach Frydenlund, Baker Mayfield discussed why he is investing in Kobe Bryant's BodyArmor drink. Here is an excerpt from the article with Mayfield speaking about the exciting opportunity.

“I think first and foremost, being an athlete, what you put in your body is very important. And then the combination of that, and it also tastes really good, helps a lot. And then what it stands for and who’s involved. A guy that I always looked up to was Kobe Bryant, and him being a main guy in BODYARMOR helps a lot. The direction they’re heading, the athletes they want to get involved. And then, you know, just everything I do. I want to give it 100 percent. And so the opportunity to be an investor and be a part of the BODYARMOR team really stuck out to me as a huge opportunity.”

As Mayfield continues to grow into a superstar, the unperturbed quarterback will continue to expand his horizons beyond football. Gatorade has dominated the sports-drink market for years but BodyArmor is gaining some ground.

Getting a budding superstar like Mayfield to become part of their movement could pay dividends for the company. Especially, if the Browns franchise quarterback delivers and helps Cleveland achieve their expectations in 2019.

With the additions of Odell Beckham Jr. and Kareem Hunt, the Browns are being labeled a contender this year. Time will tell if that label will stick or if the Browns will continue to disappoint their loyal fans.
