Los Angeles Lakers all-time great Kobe Bryant has left his impression on athletes all over the world. The latest high-profile sports star to publicly praise Bryant is Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield.
In an interview with Zach Frydenlund of Complex, Mayfield spoke on his first meeting with Bryant.
“Just getting to hear him tell a lot about his whole life story, and just enjoy that. Mentality-wise, I always loved watching him, how he competed, and then hearing some of the stories in person. Truly amazing,” Mayfield shared.
Mayfield furthered that Bryant is one of the main reasons why he decided to work with BODYARMOR.
“(Kobe) being a main guy in BODYARMOR helps a lot. The direction they’re heading, the athletes they want to get involved. And then, you know, just everything I do. I want to give it 100 percent. And so the opportunity to be an investor and be a part of the BODYARMOR team really stuck out to me as a huge opportunity,” the 24-year-old added.
On the court, Bryant has influenced his peers to be extremely competitive and devoted to whatever sport they play. Off the court, the Lakers legend has shown them the importance of being business savvy and promoting ideas you are passionate about.
Overall, it seems like the two athletes have hit it off well. Mayfield will aim to follow in Bryant's footsteps and win a few championships of his own.
