The 2019 season has been well-documented as a failure for the Cleveland Browns and everyone in the sports world didn't hesitate to let them know about it. While speaking about the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA, Charles Barkley took a big shot at Cleveland.

“I picked the Sixers to get to the Finals,” Barkley said, via Joey Morona of Cleveland.com. “I think they are the softest, mentally weakest team that had a bunch of talent. They are the Cleveland Browns of the NBA. They got a lot of talent, and they talk the talk, and that’s it.”

Before the 2019 season, the expectations rose for the Browns after acquiring Odell Beckham Jr. via trade. For the most part, a majority of the hype surrounding the team was fabricated by the media.

However, Baker Mayfield and other members of the roster did a poor job handling the limelight. After receiving praise before playing a single game, the Browns never lived up to the expectations that were perpetuated.

In the end, Cleveland recorded a dismal 6-10 record and missed the playoffs for the 17th consecutive season in 2019. As a result, both Freddie Kitchens and John Dorsey were ousted. Following the chaotic campaign, players around the league criticized the Browns for how they performed.

Barkley was among the endless number of people that fell victim to the expectations given to the Browns. With how the 2019 season concluded, it's safe to say the Browns won't be advertised as a contender in 2020. Even though they won't have high expectations again, that won't prevent Barkley and others from ridiculing them.
