There is a newfound sense of hope surrounding the Cleveland Browns amidst all the upgrades they made this offseason. It appears that optimism is shared by key players on the roster.

There has been plenty of speculation that Cleveland could finally be turning things around after their abysmal 1-31 record over the last two seasons. Linebacker Christian Kirksey kicked things up a notch after declaring that the Browns will make the playoffs in the 2018 NFL season with a post on Twitter.

Kirksey's comments are indicative of the expectations Cleveland has set for themselves this year. Although it may seem like a bit of a stretch given their recent success, there is good reason for him to be optimistic this time around.

The Cleveland Browns finally brought in some serious firepower to their offense with the acquisition of quarterback Tyrod Taylor and wide receiver Jarvis Landry this NFL offseason. They also cashed in on their two top-five picks in the 2018 NFL Draft by taking quarterback Baker Mayfield and cornerback Denzel Ward. While most of the focus has been fortifying the offense, it is clear that this talented, young defense is ready to take that next step.

Kirksey will undoubtedly be a major part of that. The former third-round pick has become an integral part of Cleveland's defense over the last few years. He registered 138 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in the 2017 campaign. Kirksey has served as a stabilizing factor in the Browns' linebacker corps, and now it is clear he is ready for a taste of the postseason.
