The Cleveland Browns are one of many teams in the NFL making huge moves ahead of the upcoming season. They recently acquired star wide receiver Amari Cooper in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys.

Now, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Cleveland is planning on releasing Austin Hooper. He tweeted the news Wednesday morning.

According to Fowler, the tight end will be released as a post-June-1 designation. The Atlanta Falcons selected Hooper in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He was a two-time Pro-Bowler as a member of the Falcons before joining the Browns in 2020.

This season, Hooper recorded 38 receptions for 345 yards and three touchdowns. The 27-year-old will enter his seventh season in the league as a free agent, with his future place of employment to be determined.

The Browns also have a lot to decide when it comes to the quarterback position. Rumor has it that Baker Mayfield could be replaced by Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. Mayfield opted out of the end of the 2021-2022 season to get a head start on his shoulder surgery and recovery. This was all to be healthy and ready to be the Browns' starting quarterback for the upcoming season.

However, Watson is a likely candidate for the position this offseason. Along with the Browns, the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints are rumored to consider the 26-year-old as their starting quarterback.
