The war of words between Odell Beckham Jr. and Gregg Williams has become the main narrative for the Week 2 clash between the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets. In the midst of this beef, Freddie Kitchens is in an interesting situation.

Kitchens was naturally asked about the situation since OBJ is under his control. However, the Browns head coach may have made the right call by being as neutral as he can on the issue.

Kitchens was asked if Williams did instruct the defense to order a cheap hit on his star wideout. He answered that he didn't hear anything of the sort from Williams when he was working with him.

“I have not seen anything like that,” Kitchens said regarding whether Williams told players to target opponents, per Pro Football Talk. “We are getting ready to play the Jets. I do not have anything to say about that. I have not seen anything, and I coached with the guy for a year.”

He also took note that Beckham is concerned about his coming game with the Jets as far as he concerned. He planted the idea that Beckham may have been playing mind games. However, he doesn't know why OBJ had to resort to such measures.

“I do not know,” Kitchens said. “I am not talking about this. It does not matter to me one way or the other. I have not seen the guy do anything like that. We are getting ready for the Jets.”

However, the damage has been done. Williams has fired back a response towards Beckham. If the wideout intended for this to happen, he succeeded with flying colors. He now has to make the most of the defensive coordinator's mental state to force a victory for the Browns.
