The Cleveland Browns are having quite a busy Sunday. Apart from the news that the franchise is expected to officially name Steve Wilks as the Browns’ newest defensive coordinator, the team also reportedly just hired Todd Monken to be its next offensive coordinator, per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Source: Former #Bucs OC Todd Monken is headed to Cleveland. He’s agreed to terms with the #Browns to be their offensive coordinator. Along with the coming hire of Steve Wilks as DC, that’s a high-powered staff.

Monken will cover the void left by Freddie Kitchens, who held the offensive coordinator role prior to his promotion as the team’s new head coach.

Monken carries with him a sound resume that has been further boosted by the job he did with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2018 season. With the Bucs, Monken was able to transform the team into one of the most prolific scoring units in the league. The Buccaneers finished the regular season 11th in scoring offense with 24.8 points per game and third in total offense with 415.5 total yards per contest.

The Browns are one of the most promising teams right now in the NFL, which largely explains why coaching jobs in Cleveland have been coveted. After going 0-16 in 2017, the Browns turned it around the next season by finishing with a 7-8-1 slate. Unlike in previous seasons, it took the Browns until Week 16 of the season to know their playoff fate.
