Odell Beckham Jr.'s transition to the Cleveland Browns hasn't been without controversy, deserved or otherwise.

First, rumors surfaced that the superstar wide receiver was unhappy about being traded from the New York Giants to the Browns, in part due to his affinity for the glitz and glamor of the New York media market. Once Beckham made his way onto the field at OTAs, he was suddenly absent for a majority of his new team's offseason training, content to prepare for the regular season on his own. He made some headlines by comparing Cleveland to the New England Patriots, too, a remark made in hopeful optimism that nonetheless was criticized by naysayers as another example of his arrogance.

With training camp right around the corner, though, Beckham seems fully prepared to put the past – further back with the Giants and more recently with the Browns – behind him. As he told Complex's Jacob Davey, the three-time Pro Bowler is ready to “explode” on the field for Cleveland this season.

“I’m trying to achieve growth. I want to release myself from my past and have a fresh start,” Beckham said. “I’ve been waiting to explode in games, and I’ve been working extremely hard to get take my game to the next level. That’s exactly what I think I can do at the Browns.”

Beckham was traded to Cleveland in March in exchange for first and third-round picks in the NFL draft and promising third-year safety Jabrill Peppers. He pairs with college teammate and fellow All-Pro Jarvis Landry to give Browns franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield one of the most dangerous groups of pass-catching weapons in football.
