Milan Lucic made an obvious decision in NHL Free Agency, returning to the Boston Bruins on a one-year contract. Lucic has spent eight years away after being traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 2015. The veteran forward went on to spend time with the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames, as well.

Lucic returned to the city of Boston on Sunday to begin preparing for the upcoming season. On Friday, he took part in a skate at the team's practice facility. He also had the honor of throwing out the first pitch at Fenway Park before the Boston Red Sox fell to the Baltimore Orioles 11-2.

Prior to that, though, Lucic spoke with the media at the Bruins practice facility. And he addressed his return to the city of Boston after his skate. “To be honest, it just feels like I’m home again,” Lucic said, via NHL.com. “That’s probably the best way to put it…it just feels like I’ve come back home.”

The Bruins traded Lucic to the Kings around the 2015 NHL Draft. In return, Boston received goalie Martin Jones, defenseman Colin Miller, and a first-round pick. Boston ended up flipping Jones to the San Jose Sharks.

With the Kings, Lucic played well. He scored 20 goals and 55 points in 81 games. He entered NHL Free Agency as one of the most in-demand players on the open market. That summer, Lucic joined the Oilers on a seven-year contract.

Things looked promising during his first season in Edmonton. Lucic scored 23 goals, his highest total since 2011-12. He also posted his third 50+ point season since 2013-14. However, his production eventually fell off, and Edmonton traded him to the Flames.

Lucic officially re-debuts as a Boston player on October 11 when the Bruins face the Chicago Blackhawks. And when the puck drops that night, the veteran forward believes he'll be right at home. “I said it all summer long, it just feels right every time I wear this logo and support these colors,” the Bruins forward said, via NHL.com.
