Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians has made it clear that he will be rolling with quarterback Jameis Winston as the clear-cut starter going into the 2019 NFL season. Regardless, it seems he will still be looking to secure some depth under center.

The Bucs currently have three quarterbacks on the roster with Winston, Blaine Gabbert, and Ryan Griffin. According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Arians may potentially look to keep things that way:

“Definitely,” Arians said regarding the possibility that the team will keep three quarterbacks. “Griff has shown that if he continues to play like that, that it’s going to be a hard decision.”

The prospect of Tampa Bay keeping three quarterbacks on the roster is hardly far-fetched. Although Arians' track record suggests an affinity for keeping only two, it appears he is looking to secure as much quality depth under center as possible this time around.

Winston was subjected to somewhat of a two-quarterback system last season. While Arians has dispelled any notion of alternating quarterbacks throughout the year, he still understands the importance of having viable backups. As a result, Gabbert could see his fair share of competition from Griffin in 2019.

Keeping all three quarterbacks would be an ideal situation for the Bucs, however, that could quickly change throughout the duration of the preseason as teams become more in-tune with some of the other voids on their roster.

Regardless, Arians is making sure to get an ample look at Griffin after he completed 330 yards on a whopping 43 attempts in the opener.
