Veteran quarterback Tom Brady's recent move from the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers created enough buzz to reach beyond the football world.

American president Donald Trump was a fan of Brady back in his time with the Patriots and is apparently friends with the Glazers, the Bucs ownership family, who have also donated to his campaign in the past.

Trump sounded off his insights to Fox Sports Radio’s Outkick The Coverage with Clay Travis:

“Well I think he’s gonna do a great job, you know, he’s been a winner,” Trump said. “He knows how to win. That’s a big thing, and he’s just been a great quarterback with a great coach (in Bill Belichick). That’s a great combination – and a great owner in Bob Kraft, frankly. He probably wanted a change.”

Trump also discussed why he thinks Tom Brady decided to specifically choose the Buccaneers:

“He wanted a change, and I think he had plenty of teams to go to, and he picked one with – from what I understand – a very good offensive line and very good receivers,” Trump said. “He looked at that closely. He had other choices where they had players. His biggest thing is that he wants to win, and from what I know, and I know the ownership of the team (the Buccaneers), they’ll do whatever they have to because they are fantastic people – the owners of the team that Tom is on now.”
