Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo recently made history after being named as NBA MVP for the second consecutive year. This feat obviously boosted his value, as well as pretty much any and all Giannis-related merchandise.
If you need any proof of the same, then wrap your head around this: an Antetokounmpo basketball card with the Bucks just sold for a record-breaking $1.812 million.

Nope, there's no typo there. A basketball card literally just sold for close to $2 million.
What's even more amazing is that the card value of the Bucks forward is just around $12,000 more expensive than a previously purchased LeBron James card. Aside from this being another knock on the Los Angeles Lakers superstar, this development is a clear indication of just how profitable the basketball cards industry has become at this point.
Now would be an excellent time to get into this hobby/business.
It is also worth noting that the company that purchased the rookie card of the Bucks'top-scorer is also the one who bough the aforementioned LeBron card. Alt, who according to their website has the vision of “increasing the transparency and liquidity of alternative assets,” sure has a lot invested in this industry right now. By setting the record for most the most expensive basketball card twice in the span of two months, the company undoubtedly has a firm grip on this market.
This move should allow them to have a tremendous influence in the value of any and all basketball cards moving forward.
