As confirmed in an official statement released by the Milwaukee Bucks, the franchise and superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo have agreed to a brand new contract extension that will keep the Greek Freak in Wisconsin for the foreseeable future.

After the deal has been confirmed, the 26-year-old Antetokounmpo also released his own statement regarding the deal, describing it as a “big moment” for him and his family. The Bucks star had until Monday's deadline to sign the team's super-max contract extension offer of five years and more than $225 million in total.

While there were a lot of questions regarding his future with the team, Giannis eventually opted to stay after seeing the franchise try to surround him with the talent he needs to win a championship. Milwaukee's biggest offseason acquisition was Jrue Holiday, bolstering their backcourt that largely struggled last season with Eric Bledsoe.

“This is my home, this is my city,” Giannis Antetokounmpo tweeted earlier in the day on Tuesday. “I’m blessed to be able to be a part of the Milwaukee Bucks for the next 5 years. Let’s make these years count. The show goes on, let’s get it.”

After finishing the 2019-20 season as the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, Antentokounmpo will now enter the new campaign with hopes of remaining as the top team in the East and winning a title. Although the Greek Freak has yet to lead Milwaukee to a deep playoff run despite immense regular season success, Giannis will no doubt be back to finish what he's started.
