Perhaps a bit overshadowed by some of the blockbuster moves that have characterized the offseason thus far is how the Milwaukee Bucks brought on two-time All-Defensive point guard Jrue Holiday to the squad.

Recently, the 30-year-old shared his first thoughts the moment he learned that he was on his way to Milwaukee.

According to Holiday, he was about to call it a night when he received the news:

“We were in bed,” Jrue Holiday said, via Preston Ellis of The Bird Writes. “We were in California. When we found out, we were really excited knowing that we were going to a team that has established themselves as one of the best.”

Holiday was in his California home with his wife, Lauren, and two kids, Jrue Tyler (four) and Hendricks (two weeks), when the news broke. Having spent seven years with the New Orleans Pelicans, the family had grown to love the city. Nonetheless, they were more than happy to hear the news of the impending move.

Holiday went on to share how rewarding it felt for him once he learned what Milwaukee was sending over to the Pelicans as part of the deal:

“I’m not usually the type to be excited about somebody trying to woo me, but it felt good,” Jrue said in reference to what the Bucks gave up to acquire him. “It felt good to see how much they respect and value me.”

In order to get their hands on Holiday, the Bucks had to part ways with Eric Bledsoe and George Hill plus a boatload of draft picks. It now remains to be seen if all this is going to be worth it.
