Seeing a player like Middleton, who was having a career season before the NBA hiatus, participate in these peaceful protests will certainly help fight against racial injustice. Recently, Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke and marched in Milwaukee at a protest against racial injustice and police brutality. Furthermore, Giannis was joined by his brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo, as well as Donte DiVincenzo, Frank Mason, Brook Lopez, Sterling Brown and Cam Reynolds.

All of the players were wearing shirts reading “I can't breathe,” a reference to the words of George Floyd before he died in police custody on May 25 in Minneapolis. Protests against police brutality and racial injustice have erupted all over the United States these past few weeks. Many people in the country are calling for change and unity in order to stop the police brutality and racial injustices, especially towards African Americans.

Nevertheless, NBA players, as a whole, have done raising awareness of police brutality and racial injustices. Numerous players like D'Angelo Russell, Stephen Curry, Jaylen Brown, and Damian Lillard have joined protests to fight against police brutality and racial injustices. These past few weeks, we've seen various levels of engagement from NBA players and coaches in the aftermath of Floyd's death.
