Milwaukee Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer wasn't happy with Khris Middleton's free throw attempts on Thursday against the Dallas Mavericks. Or for the lack of them.

The fact that the Middleton had a whopping zero free throws awarded to him on Thursday despite having 27 field goal attempts was rather sketchy for Budenholzer (via Eric Nehm of The Athletic).

The Bucks needed every point as they were again without reigning two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo who sat his third straight game due to a knee injury. The Bucks couldn't catch a break as they lost to the Mavericks, 116,101 and ended their six-game road trip with back-to-back losses.

Middleton had a tough time against the Mavericks' stifling defense and the referees chose not to bail him out by not sending him to the charity stripe. The 29-year-old finished with 14 points and shot just 6-of-27 from the field with the Mavericks doing a good job of contesting his attempts without fouling.

This is the eighth time this season that Middleton had zero free throw attempts but Thursday was the first time the swingman wasn't sent to the line after putting up 20 or more shots. Odd, as Budenholzer put it, is the best way to put it.

Despite losing five of their last eight games, the Bucks are still hanging on to the third spot in the Eastern Conference. Khris Middleton and company need to quickly regain their footing to separate themselves further from the middle of the pack with the Charlotte Hornets and the Atlanta Hawks.
